הביאנלה מציגה תמונת מצב עדכנית של תחומי האומנויות והעיצוב העכשוויים בישראל – קרמיקה, זכוכית, צורפות, טקסטיל ונייר – ומציגה אותם כשהם משולבים זה בזה. הביאנלה, אשר מתפרשת על פני רוב חללי התצוגה של המוזיאון, מחברת בין עבודות הקראפט העכשוויות ובין אוצרות ארכאולוגיים ואתנוגרפיים מאוסף המוזיאון. במרחבים הפתוחים מוצגות עבודות חוץ בעלות אופי מיצבי, פיסולי או אדריכלי.
הנושא הנבחר לביאנלה השנייה הוא מהי מידת האדם? והיא מתמקדת במצב האנושי בפתחו של עידן חדש. הביאנלה עוסקת במעגלים השונים המקיפים אותנו ובכוחנו להשפיע על עתיד המקום שבו אנו חיים. השנה, לראשונה ברוח הנושא חובק העולם, מוצגות לצד עבודות של כ־ 250 אמניות ואמנים ישראלים מהשורה הראשונה, גם מבחר עבודות קראפט ועיצוב של אמנים בין־לאומיים שיצירותיהם מגיבות לתרבויות ולמסורות עתיקות.

The Biennale presents an up-to-date picture of contemporary crafts and design in Israel, including ceramics, glass, jewelry making, textile and paper – in combination with one another. In addition to forging connections between these different fields, it engages with MUZA’s historical pavilions and archaeological and ethnographic treasures. The museum’s outdoor spaces will feature outdoor works including installations, sculptures, and architectural structures.
The Second Biennale, whose chosen theme is “What Is the Measure of Man?” will focus on the human condition at the threshold of a new age. The Biennale will examine the different circles that surround us and our power to impact the future of the place in which we live. In order to reflect the global spirit of this question, some 250 works by prominent Israeli artists are presented alongside a selection of craft and design works by international artists responding to ancient cultures and traditions
